gem to Extend its Reach into Web Technology Sector
3/3/2010 2:34:05 PM
One of Northern Ireland's largest indigenous companies, gem, is set to expand its services into the web development sector after securing a contract to support a major search engine for one of the world’s largest technology companies.
gem, which has been delivering high end sales, customer service and technical support for more than 10 years in an outsourced environment, is set to diversify its service offering into software development.
The move will see recruitment of up to 10 web application developers to take up posts at the company’s Belfast city centre offices.
Jonathan Wilson, Account Director at gem said: “gem typically supports customers who communicate via the web and who are familiar with providing customer service via web technology. It is therefore a natural progression for us to move into the web development field, as we seek to broaden our reach by effectively competing alongside others within this sector.
“This new and innovative work enables us to become much more strategically aligned with our clients’ own business strategies. Having listened to our many clients over the past 10 years, we understand that their needs extend beyond customer service. It makes business and economic sense for them to avail of a number of services under one roof, which is why we have taken this step into web development. We are a customer-led company and our service delivery has to be flexible in order to meet their needs.”
Recruitment will begin immediately for the high calibre posts, which require a Computer Science degree, knowledge of ASP.NET and a minimum of three years relevant experience.
